Pod vape kits have a plastic pod in place of the glass tank seen in other traditional vape kits. The pod sits partially inside the device to maintain a compact size, and is a great option for those who are a little more likely to drop or knock the device as it is more durable than glass.
Some refillable pods have a built-in coil that cannot be replaced. With these options the pod can be refilled multiple times until the coil inside starts to burn out, at which point the entire pod can be removed, disposed, and replaced with a fresh one. Alternatively, some refillable pods have replaceable coils, which allow the pod to be used indefinitely, with the user just replacing the coil with a new one whenever needed.
Refillable pod kits are an excellent option if you are new to vaping and want a straight forward device. What are refillable pod vape kits?
Refillable pod kits are vape kits that utilise a plastic pod in place of a tank, which can be refilled repeatedly with any compatible e-liquid allowing you to select the flavour and nicotine strength that best suits your needs.
Some refillable pods are disposable, meaning that the coil is fixed within the pod and the pod will need to be disposed of and replaced with a new one once the coil starts to burn out. Whereas others have replaceable coils which allow you to continue using the pod and simply replace the coil as and when needed.
Which e-liquid should I use in my refillable pod vape kit?
Which e-liquid works best with your chosen refillable pod kit will vary depending on the device.
If you are using a starter kit style refillable pod vape then this will likely be best paired with a 50/50 or high PG e-liquid which is easily absorbed by the coil without drying out between draws.
However, if you are using a more advanced refillable pod kit with a sub-ohm coil and high wattage output it will usually work best with a high VG e-liquid which has a thicker consistency, ensuring the coil does not become over-saturated with e-liquid.

How do refillable pod vape kits work?
Refillable pod vape kits work in the same way as any other e-cigarette, the coil within the device heats up, turning the e-liquid into a vapour which can be inhaled. The pod will need to be filled with a compatible e-liquid, and can be refilled whenever needed.
If the coil within the pod is fixed then the entire pod will need to be replaced once the coil starts to burn out, whereas if the coil is replaceable you will only need to change the coil and can continue to use the same pod.

Are refillable vapes legal in the UK?
Yes, refillable vape kits can be refilled, recharged, and utilise either replaceable coils or pods, which makes them legal for sale in the UK. The disposable vape ban which was introduced in the UK on 1 June 2025 applies only to single-use products which cannot be refilled either with an e-liquid or by having the prefilled pod replaced, or recharged.
Are refillable vapes a good alternative to disposable?
Refillable vapes not only make a great alternative to disposable vapes, but are also much more cost-effective and environmentally friendly. This is because the battery of the device can be repeatedly recharged and will usually last in the region of one year to 18 months before needing to be replaced, and the only other part of the device that will regularly need to be replaced is the pod or coil. This helps to cut down on the amount of waste produced compared to that of disposable vapes, as well as cutting the long-term cost of using the device.
