Using the wrong ratio of e-liquid for your preferred tank can mean that you may experience some issues with leaking. If you are using a more advanced tank with a larger coil, it is often preferable to use a high VG e-liquid (70/30 or higher) as these juices have a thicker consistency which is better suited for more powerful devices. Opting for a thinner liquid, such as a 50/50, can cause the coil to flood meaning that the juice can leak from the airflow or spit into the user’s mouth when using the device.

When the coil is not inserted correctly, it can cause gaps to appear at the base of the tank where e-liquid can escape. If you are using a tank that has a screw in coil, ensure that the threads are correctly lined up and that the coil is secure (but not overtightened). If you are using a tank that requires a push fit coil, check that the coil is in alignment with the base of the tank and is sitting flush.

Sometimes the O rings that seal the gaps between the glass and the base of the tank can become brittle, misplaced or damaged. Check the condition of these seals and if you spot any damage, you can replace them with the spares that you will usually find in the box that came with the tank or device.

Sometimes cracks can appear without the user noticing as they can often be very small. This can cause leakages but can be resolved by replacing the glass or pod.

When you are not using your device, it is important that you store it correctly to prevent it from leaking. Make sure that the device is turned off and sitting in an upright position where possible.

More often than the not, the burning taste can be down to the coil reaching the end of its lifespan. This can happen at any time and can be easily fixed by switching the coil out for a new one.

It is important to prime the coils properly to make sure that it wicks efficiently and that the cotton is fully saturated with e-liquid. To prime the coil, apply a few drops of juice to the inlets on the outside the coil (where the cotton is showing) and allow the new coil to sit for 5-10 minutes before the first use so it has time to absorb the juice. If you are using a variable wattage device, start at a lower setting and gradually increase the wattage over a few hours until you reach your preferred setting.

If you are using a device that requires a smaller coil, it is preferable that you use a slightly thinner e-liquid ratio like a 50/50. If you are using a juice that is high VG (70/30 or higher), the coil does not have time to absorb the juice in between pulls which can cause the coil to burn out or produce dry hits.

If you are using a variable wattage device, make sure that you have set the wattage in accordance with the recommended power setting that is printed on the side of coil (e.g. 45W-60W). Setting the power too high can cause the coil to burn out much quicker than expected as there is too much power being pushed through the device when it is being used.

It is important to keep your tank topped up with e-liquid to prevent the cotton inside the coil from becoming dry and burning out. A good rule of thumb is to always keep your tank around half full.

Especially with larger tanks, it is important that you leave approximately 5-10 seconds in between pulls to allow the coil enough time to reabsorb the juice which prevents the cotton from becoming dry and burning out the coil.
